Cosmetic Dentistry

Your teeth can tell others a lot about you. If they are less than perfect, then you may tend to try and hide them. This can cause you to have a smile that is not quite natural – and others will notice. With cosmetic dentistry from Champion Dental, your dental problems can be repaired to give you a beautiful set of teeth – and a great smile to go with it.

Cosmetic dentistry has been helping people everywhere to get better-looking teeth. Our dentists have all the tools you need to replace your missing or damaged teeth with teeth that look like your own. In fact, you might even be surprised at how we can transform your teeth.

Among the tools that can be used to give you great-looking teeth, we provide the following options. Of course, more than one option may also be used.

SMILE MAKEOVER

A smile makeover is a dental process that involves doing what is necessary to give you a great smile. Several dental processes may be involved, depending on the present condition of your teeth – or lack of them. It also depends on what you do not like about your smile and want to change.

A smile makeover also depends on your budget because several dental treatments may be involved. They may include:

  • Braces or Invisalign
  • Teeth whitening
  • Dental implants
  • Dental veneers or composite bonding
  • Porcelain crowns
  • Surgery
  • Bone and gum grafts.

Smile makeovers can even be used to rebuild your chin and cheeks if they are sagging and making you look older. Gum surgery can be performed to modify your gum line.

VENEERS

We can also transform your teeth into a Hollywood smile with dental veneers. These thin covers for the front of your teeth quickly change the appearance of many teeth. The best type is made of porcelain, which enables them to look just like your natural teeth.

We use porcelain veneers to correct many dental problems. They can remedy the following problems:

  • Chipped teeth
  • Cracked teeth
  • Discolored teeth
  • Short teeth
  • Slightly misaligned teeth
  • Gaps between your teeth.

When porcelain veneers are going to be added to your teeth, we start by removing some of your tooth enamel. This is a non-reversible process. Once that is completed, a mold or digital scan will be made of your teeth. It is then sent to a lab so that will make your veneer teeth.

On your next visit, we ensure that your veneers are a perfect fit and then bond them to your teeth. Then, they are polished to shine like your other teeth to give you that bright smile.

Since porcelain is a very hard material, dental veneers made from it can be expected to last a long time. They will normally last around 15 years, but with care, they could last even longer.

Care is needed because porcelain is also brittle and it may chip if you bite a hard object like ice; chew on pencils or pens, or hard candy.

At Champion Dental, we also offer another type of dental veneers called composite veneers. These are made of the same material as white fillings. The dentist will apply the material in layers and harden each one. When enough material has been applied, it is shaped and polished. This type of dental veneer is considerably less expensive the porcelain veneers.

While most porcelain veneers will require that some of your tooth enamel be removed, not all of them require it. Some dental veneers, such as Lumineers – which we offer, will generally make this step unnecessary.

TEETH WHITENING

In many cases, teeth whitening is all that is needed to transform your teeth and smile. Getting white teeth will not only make you look more attractive but it will also make you look younger.

Over time, teeth naturally become more yellow. Besides occurring more with age, it also happens because of the many different colors and dyes in the food you eat. Drinks such as coffee, tea, dark-colored sodas, and red wine are especially noted for this. The dark colors get trapped in your tooth enamel and the layer of dentin under it.

Professional teeth whitening can remove or bleach these dyes and other colors to white, leaving your teeth much whiter than they were before. Most store products will only whiten your teeth a couple of shades, but laser teeth whitening will get your teeth their whitest in the least amount of time – possibly in just one appointment. It could be as much as six shades whiter.

Teeth whitening is not effective on some teeth stain colors and may not affect them at all. In that case, dental veneers or a dental crown will be necessary to hide the color. If the discoloration is caused by a large amalgam filling, the filling can be removed or a new crown put on the tooth.

Another reason for your teeth turning more yellow is because, as you get older, the enamel of your teeth becomes thinner. Once this happens, more of the dark yellow color of the dentin under the enamel will show through.

Teeth whitening can also be done at home with chemicals from the dentist. The dentist can give you the equipment you need, after a consultation, and it will be less expensive than having it done at the dentist’s office.

Snap on Smile

One way to get a set of teeth that looks great and is available without the high cost of dentistry is to get a product called snap on smile. These false teeth are custom-made in a dentist’s office to fit your teeth. You will even be able to eat or drink while wearing them.

It does not matter what your real teeth look like, because the snap on smile fits over them and covers them completely. Your teeth may be crooked, missing, discolored, misaligned, short, and you may even have spaces between them – it can help the appearance of nearly anyone’s teeth.

The snap on smile teeth are made of a hi-tech resin that is thin but strong. Perhaps the best part is that no dental work such as drilling or injections is necessary. People who are not eligible to get bridges or dental implants can get the snap on smile product. It is painless and will only take two visits to the dentist at Champion Dental.

The snap on smile teeth are custom-made and are comfortable. No drilling or injections are required. You can get them for a partial arch, an upper or lower arch, or for both arches. They can also be made to match the color of your existing teeth.

If you want the look of Hollywood teeth but cannot afford a smile makeover or dental veneers, this is the way to go. The snap on smile looks natural and the teeth are white, letting you smile with confidence.

Tooth Colored Bonding

Another way to get the same results as dental veneers but at a much lower cost is at Champion Dental to get tooth-colored bonding. This is the same type of material that is used in white fillings. Before getting bonding on your teeth, you will want to have teeth whitening so that the color will match your teeth at their whitest.

The first step is to roughen the tooth. A special liquid will be applied to condition it. These two steps will help the bonding material to bond to the tooth better. No drilling is necessary unless you have a cavity that needs to be filled first.

After this, the dentist applies the material to the front of your teeth. It is applied in layers and each layer must be hardened separately. When there is enough bonding material on the tooth and the last layer is hardened, the dentist will shape it and then polish it. Each tooth can be expected to take between 30 to 60 minutes to complete. Oftentimes, this process can be completed in one dental visit.

Dental bonding is a much faster process than porcelain veneers that must be made in a lab. Depending on how many teeth you have that need bonding; you could walk into our office with your less-than-perfect teeth and walk out with a brand new smile.

Because composite resin is a softer material, it is not as durable as porcelain. It can be expected to last from five to seven years and it is easily repairable.
